Joy Behar Backtracks After Telling Hillary Clinton She ‘Won’ in 2016: ‘I Don’t Care What They Say’

Joy Behar, co-host of the popular daytime talk show “The View,” backtracked on Wednesday after telling former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that she “won” the 2016 election.

During a segment on the show, Clinton was discussing her new book, “State of Terror,” when Behar said, “You won the election, but you didn’t win the Electoral College. That’s the way it goes.”

Behar’s comment was met with boos from the studio audience, and Clinton quickly corrected her, saying, “I didn’t win the election.”

Behar then backtracked, saying, “I don’t care what they say, you won.”

However, Behar’s backtracking did not appease some viewers, who took to social media to criticize her for her original comment.

“Joy Behar is living in a fantasy world if she thinks Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another Twitter user wrote, “It’s sad to see that Joy Behar is still unable to accept the results of the 2016 election. It’s time to move on.”

Behar has a history of making controversial statements on her show. In 2019, she was criticized for saying that she didn’t believe the allegations of sexual misconduct against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Behar has also been criticized for her comments about President Donald Trump and his supporters. In 2017, she said that Trump supporters were “deplorables.”

Behar’s latest comment about the 2016 election is likely to further fuel the political divide in the United States. It is also a reminder of the importance of being accurate and responsible when discussing sensitive topics.
